Camp Ginneria Bereavement Camp

Registration for Camp Ginneria is now open!

Smiling Faces

The mission of Camp Ginneria Bereavement Camp is to provide a safe and supportive environment for children and teens who have lost a family member to homicide/violent crime by giving them an opportunity to work through their grief with others who have had similar losses, and to express themselves in a nurturing environment without fear of being ostracized, ridiculed, teased, or stigmatized, all while having fun and developing peer support.

The Purpose of Camp Ginneria

Death can be a difficult concept for children to grasp. For many, they often keep their emotions hidden, not knowing how to communicate their pain, and not wanting to add to an adult’s grief. Camp Ginneria seeks to provide an opportunity to assist bereaved children and teenagers to work through the grieving process, allowing them to be with others who have had similar losses and express themselves without fear of ridicule, teasing or stigmatization. While sharing memories, making new friends, expressing feelings, and receiving support, they are learning that they don’t have to walk alone in their grief.
